“Terrazzo” in graphic design is a pattern similar to the original terrazzo floors. Terrazzo flooring and wall treatments are made using chips of marble, quartz, granite, glass, or other suitable materials, poured with a cementitious binder (for chemical binding). Additional chips are often sprinkled atop the mix before it sets. After it is cured it is ground and polished smooth or otherwise finished to produce a uniformly textured surface.
Though a Terrazzo floor or counter-top isn’t on my interior wish-list I do love the use of Terrazzo patterns in graphic design. It’s fun, colorful and remains sophisticated. The colours in the patterns I’ve used in these freebies are my favourites lately. Note the colouring of my new website theme (if this post isn’t too old that is 😉 ).
