14 Jul NOC NOC Is Stopping, Shanghai Papa hopes to open its doors in September 2019
NOC NOC is Stopping? Yes? NO? Kind of.
The owners of one of my newly discovered favourites is going to start something new that sounds really good. And NOC NOC? It is going away –but may eventually come back!
Before I’ve officially launched the website my first 010 hotspot has announced that they’re stopping!
Here’s my post that I started way back when I was still contemplating on whether to start a new blog or to continue with A Creative Mess.
Here’s what I wrote back in March.
I logged into Instagram earlier this week and found this post.

📷@mahorotterdam @shanghaipapa #rotterdam #botersloot #nocnocrdam #kapitaalopmaat #crowdfunding #goodbye #mahorotterdam #wewillbeback
Basically it says:
Dear guests of NOC NOC, the crowdfunding has started for Shanghai Papa, our new concept, has started! Unfortunately this means the beginning of the end for NOC NOC on the Botersloot. It saddens us that NOC NOC is going to come to an end, but we are looking forward to our new adventure. Take a look at the crowdfunding, share and invest in us! We would be truly grateful. We hope to welcome you all in Shanghai Papa!
Kind regards, the NOC NOC team.
P.S. We hope to come back with NOC NOC at a different location. When it happens of course you’ll hear from us!
Entrepreneurs Maggie Chau and Celia Tang grew up with Chinese cultural traditions, where family, respect and food played an important role. It’s from these traditions that Shanghai Papa will be built on.
Shanghai Papa will be located in a top trendy area in Rotterdam and is expected to open its doors in September this year. If you’re looking to invest you can find their crowdfunding campaign here. It’s also where I’ve found the info. for much of this post!
So what can you expect from Shanghai Papa?
In the style of the 30’s ♥
They’ll have a tea garden for Chinese Tea Ceremonies, and workshops.
Shanghai Papa sounds amazing. More than just a place to eat but also an experience.
The interior will include many symbols that have a meaning. For example the fish, which is a symbol of wealth and luck. You’ll also find the phoenix and the dragon in the decor.
The menu will have a lot of traditional dishes. The dishes, and teas that they have at home.
