Want continuity in your imagery? I use Lightroom, and you?
How’s it going? Vacation plans? We’re staying home this summer and travelling in the Autumn. We do have two weeks coming up though. We’ll be spending our time here in Rotterdam and the surrounding area. There is certainly enough to do here!
Lately I’ve been going through my photographs that I had edited before I learned to edit in Lightroom. Lightroom is still not easy for me, I sometimes have to walk away and try again later. I’m getting better at it and am happy with the results lately. Not only have I improved with my photography over the last few months but editing is always taking a new direction.
Do you use Lightroom? If not, what is your editing process or preferred software? And the question I really want to ask is ‘Do you wish you could recall all your photos so you can re-edit them?’. I do! I was glancing over my Unsplash page and came across the image below. It is so flat and not interesting. The one on the right is edited warmer than I’d like but I love how the carrot cake and the fork really appear. They look more like the original items than the first edit.
As I was busy today with a travel stock photography collection I came across some photos from Morocco that were really nice but they had been processed so differently that they didn’t fit nicely into a bundle. So me being me I dropped the stock travel issue collection and started on this post. I’ve shown below the photographs before and after editing them with my presets.
Below images out the free stock photography bundle available in original edits & Lightroom versions.
The original edits aren’t bad, in fact some are really good. It’s just important for me to try to have a consistent look. Continuity is something I’ve always struggled with. By editing images in the same style I find that it makes each photo even more personal.
Will I ever release presets? Maybe if I ever feel comfortable with the results and consistency. I found that the most difficult, though with my newly taken photographs it’s much easier since I know how the camera settings work, my end results are more consistent. This makes editing so much easier!
I feel I’ve taken giant leaps as far as my technique, compositions and post-processing skills. A half year ago I didn’t know what 95% of the settings on the camera ever were and I loathed Lightroom *facepalm* I’ve got a long way to go but am loving every step I take!

Did you see my Insta post about the Rotterdam Instagram Portrait Meet-up last Sunday? I went with Cierra (my daughter) and we had a great time. Being around like-minded enthusiasts feels good and is inspiring. As it says in the post I was out of my comfort zone but now I can’t wait to take more portraits!

Good morning 🌈☀️ How was your weekend? I'm asking a day late because -reasons. My weekend was busy and fun. Sunday I took part in an insta meet-up with Cierra here in Rotterdam. The #roffaportraitmeet2 I hardly ever shoot portraits. You guys know I shoot #prettycity and interiors. This was out of my comfort zone -so I thought. Turns out I really liked it! I need to get in some more hours but I took some good pics. Considering I didn't understand the camera settings 7 months ago I'm very pleased! When I find time to edit I'll add more. You're used to flowers & gardens in my feed so today you'll get that combined with portraits of @mdiepraam Thanks to the organisers @lauratejedor @roffalove and @mdiepraam To everyone there thanks for the good company! I'm looking forward to the next meet-up 😊📷 Don't forget to swipe! #roffaportraitmeet #roffa #010 #instameet #hotelnewyork #Rotterdam #rottergram #rotterdammakeithappen #prettycityRotterdam #beautifulcityrotterdam #010byday #tussendebloemen
Curious about the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Canon?
The extraordinary Agnieszka Konkol shoots a lot with the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Canon and her style is amazing. I’m going to have to up my game to get to this level but I’m up for the challenge. I will still go for brightly, warm edited photos but the dreaminess of her photographs are something I want to lean towards.
That’s it for today. I’ll probably not be posting a diary this week because many of the photographs I’ve taken aren’t meant for publishing (privacy reasons). You can see them in my Instagram Stories! I’ve highlighted them to make them easier to find.
Enjoy your week. If you’re experience extreme weather like we are stay hydrated and keep cool if you can!
